Annual Toronto Waterfront Marathon/Half Marathon/5k race is Sunday, September 26th

Yes, it's that time of year again! The annual Toronto Waterfront Marathon/Half Marathon/5k race is happening this Sunday, September 26th, This year 3 of my grandsons will join me in lacing up our sneakers to take part in this fun and worthwhile event. As much as I'll enjoy the walk itself, the real reason why I look forward to it is the opportunity to raise support for an organization that I'm passionate about -- Matthew House.

Will you consider sponsoring me to help me reach surpass my fund-raising goal?  We all know that many people are feeling the impact of these uncertain economic times in very real ways.  However, the unfortunate reality is that the needy in our community suffer the most when the going gets rough, and organizations like Matthew House need support now more than ever.  Difficult times provide a great opportunity to encourage others, and to dig deep to show your support for the marginalized in our midst!

Matthew House is a shelter in downtown Toronto that welcomes newly arrived refugees to Canada and provides support and settlement assistance that they need to get on their feet in a new and unfamiliar place.  As a board member of several years I feel it is an honour, to be participating in the run once again, to help raise support this year as we continue offering much needed services to refugees in a challenging economic environment.

Matthew House is no stranger to exciting times and big challenges. As a charitable organization, we rely on the generosity of people like you to propel our mission and purpose (we receive no government funding), we continue to need strong support as we grow.  The Toronto Waterfront Marathon/5k is a great way to offer your support to Matthew House, you get the satisfaction of knowing I'll be waking up super early on September 26th to walk!
